The patrol is the fundamental unit of a Boy Scout troop — a small group of 6–8 Scouts who work, camp, and grow together under an elected Patrol Leader. In Troop 31, patrol spirit is strong.
Patrol Identity
Each patrol has its own name, yell, and flag. These build camaraderie and friendly competition between patrols. A strong patrol identity motivates Scouts to achieve together.
The Patrol Method
Baden-Powell designed Scouting around the patrol method because young men learn best from each other. Older Scouts teach younger ones, and leadership develops naturally through this structure.
